Kuykendall Named C-USA Player of the Week

Senior Tessa Kuykendall of Rice is the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week this week after leading the Owls to an upset of No. 21 Arizona and being named MVP of the Four Points Sheraton Wildcat Classic, the C-USA office anounced Monday.
Kuykendall led the Owls to an upset of No. 21 Arizona on the Wildcats' home court and was named the MVP of the Four Points Sheraton Wildcat Classic. Over the course of the week, she helped Rice to a 3-1 record while averaging 3.28 kpg on .293 hitting and 1.11 bpg. Against McNeese State, she posted one of the best hitting percentages of the year by an Owl hitting .579 (13-2-19). In game five against Arizona, Kuykendall posted four of Rice's seven kills, including two to break a 10-10 tie and put the Owls up for good.
Next up for the Owls is a trip to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Nike Challenge. Rice faces New Hampshire on Friday, then IPFW and the host Wolverines on Saturday.
