Rice Falls To 19th-Ranked Kentucky

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Rice lost its second-straight match to a ranked foe on Saturday, suffering a 5-2 loss to 19th-ranked Kentucky in West Lafayette, Ind.
After setting swept in doubles, the Owls avoided the shutout with a pair of straight-set wins at the five and six singles positions. Kimberley Patenaude scored her second-consecutive win with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Caroline Winebrenner the number six. After a tough first set, Medeja Egic was dominant in the second against Jessica Giuggioli for a 7-6, 6-0 win at number five.
The road doesn't get any easier as the Owls head out again next weekend to face seventh-ranked Georgia Tech on Thursday before traveling to 14th-ranked Vanderbilt on Saturday.
