KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Sophomore Dominique Karas rallied for a three-set victory to win flight five singles and lead the Rice women's tennis team on the final day of the St. Mary's Classic, hosted by Tennessee in Knoxville.
After a pair a straight-set wins on Saturday, Karas rallied from a set down to defeat William and Mary's Jenna Loeb 5-7, 6-3, 6-2 to win her flight.
Senior Christine Dao and sophomore Amy Cao won the backdraws of flights four and seven, respectively. Dao blasted Furman's Shannon Moore 6-2, 6-1, and Cao rebounded from a close first set to win 6-7, 6-0, 7-5.
The Owls make their first home appearance next weekend when they host the Rice Tennis Classic at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium, Sept. 23-25.
