
Halsey Places Third In Two Events At Sectional Meet

AUSTIN - Sophomore Amy Halsey posted a pair national qualifying times for two third place finishes in leading a group of four Owls competing at the USA Swimming long course sectional meet in Austin over the weekend.
Halsey qualified in the 200-meter backstroke for the U.S. Open championships and in the 100-backstroke for the U.S. Junior National Championships. She was third both events, recording a time of 2:21.74 in the 200 and 1:06.05 in the 100.
Sophomore Jennifer Hill was fifth in the 400-individual medley (5:06.08) and eighth in the 200-IM (2:29.10). Brittany Massengale was seventh in the 200-freestyle (2:07.38) while Carey Hain was 19th among field of 143 entrants. Hain was also 18th in the 400-free with a long course time of 4:32.64.
