Women's Tennis: DiSesa, Chong Earn National Rankings

HOUSTON ? Senior Tracie Chong cracked the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national singles rankings, while junior Blair DiSesa was ranked for the fifth-straight week.

Chong, a Honolulu, Hawaii native, cracked the final regular-season rankings for the first time in her career, coming in at 119. She has gone 18-5 in singles during dual-match action this spring, playing primarily at the number three spot. Last week, Chong was named to the all-Western Athletic Conference second team.

From Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., DiSesa came in at number 100 in this week's rankings. She has a 16-8 recorded as the Owls' number-one singles player and was named to the all-WAC first team for singles.

As a team, the Owls have been ranked all season and checked in at 48th this week. Rice, 14-8, finds out on Wednesday if the season will continue, when the NCAA announces the 2005 championships bracket at approximately 3:30 pm (CDT) on ESPNews.
