Brumfield was the 22nd pick of the day, going in the second round to the Minnesota Lynx, while Jordan was the 41st pick, getting drafted by the Seattle Storm. The Rice duo were the only players from the Western Athletic Conference to be selected, and the first in league history to be drafted in the WNBA.
Brumfield, a graduate of Alief Elsik High School, finished her collegiate career as the all-time steal leader at Rice, men's and women's, in steals with 311. She also ranks third all-time in points (1,703) and assists (405). Brumfield was a member of the WBCA district VII all-America team and the all-WAC first team, in addition to being named the WAC tournament's most valuable player.
Jordan, a graduate of Dulles High School, received WAC all-tournament honors in addition to being named to the all-WAC second team as a senior. After four years, she ranks third in career blocked shots (93), seventh in scoring (1,329) and ninth in both rebounds (647) and steals (166).
The two seniors capped off their careers by leading the Lady Owls to their best season in school history with a 22-10 record. The Rice women won their first conference tournament and their first NCAA tournament game.
