Swimming: Williams Wins the 200 IM Title at WAC Championships

Williams took first place in a time of 2:03.37, which is an NCAA provisional cut and qualifies her for her first Olympic Trials. Jada Sanders finished third in the 200 IM in a time of 2:03.76, which is also a provisional qualifier and meets the USS Seniors cut.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Kathryn Scholl finished second in a time of 4.49.69, a provisional time. Mandy Mularz finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.46, the second-best time in Rice history.
The Owls' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Mularz, Katherine Hermann, Kim Maher and Rachel Armstrong captured a third-place finish in a time of 1:33.05. to set the Rice record while also posting a provisional time for the NCAA championships. The 400-yard medley relay team of April Martin, Suzanne Nicoletti, Williams and Armstrong finished third in a time of 4:47.65.
At the conclusion of Thursday's events, Rice was in third place with 178.50 points. SMU scored 326 points to lead on the opening day and Hawaii was in second with 251 points.
