Swimming: Owls Post Top 25 Times Nationally

Junior Beth Williams is among the nation's best in four events. She ranks 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:02.91 and 12th in the 200 breaststroke at 2:15.58 -- both school records. The Omaha, Neb., native also has the 20th-fastest time in the 200 individual medley at 2:03.35 and 16th in the 400 IM at 4:19.16.
Junior Katie Scholl has the 10th-best time in the 1,650 freestyle at 16:39.70 and the 12th-fastest in the 500 free at 4:48.83. Sophomore Mandy Mularz stands 19th in the 50 free at 23.28.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Mularz, Katie Hermann, Kim Maher and Rachel Armstrong has recorded the 12th-best time in the nation this season at 1:33.98. The 800 freestyle relay combination of Scholl, Hermann, Maher and Armstrong ranks 17th at 7:29.69.
The Owls finished ninth behind eight top 15 teams at the Texas Invitational Dec. 1-3 and will head to California for two weeks of training before returning to competition at the University of San Diego Invitational Jan. 6.
