Track and Field: Rice Women Take Second; Men Place Fourth

The women performed well in the field events, with Alice Falaiye (20-10 1/2) and Konnett Mays (18-08) taking first and second, respectively, in the long jump. Jessica Sommerfeld also posted a win for Rice, recording a throw of 48-0 in the shot put. The Owls' distance medley relay team took first place with a time of 11:51.66, and the 4x400-meter relay squad took second with a 3:46.92 finish. Rice's lone individual running win came from Kaite Waite who recorded a first-place finish in the 3,000 meters.
For the men, Lacklan McArthur recorded a 4:13.94 win in the mile, and Rashad Stafford took second in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 7.89. Tommy Oleksy won the long jump with a mark of 25-02 3/4, and Drexell Owusu claimed first place in the triple jump with a leap of 51-07 3/4.
The Texas women's team won seven events to finish first in the meet with 130 points, while Penn State's men collected 116 points for the victory.
