Johannesdottir Named American Track Athlete of the Week

IRVING – Rice sophomore Julia Johannesdottir was named the American Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, earning the honor in back-to-back weeks, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Johannesdottir led the way at Long Beach, setting a personal best mark in the 100m hurdles for a third consecutive meet, this time with a time of 13.02s. The mark breaks her own school record of 13.41s, which was set at the Victor Lopez Classic.
Her time currently ranks first in the American, fourth in the NCAA West Region and 13th in the NCAA.
Rice returns to Wendel D. Ley Track Saturday for the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet.
