Nacogdoches The Rice volleyball team lost to Stephen F. Austin Tuesday night, 4-15, 11-15, 12-15.
Klara Zelinka and Kelly Smith led the Owls with 12 kills each. On the defensive front, Zelinka posted a team high 10 digs, and Briana Cook notched six blocks. Mariel Davenport Pollock recorded a career-high 36 assists.
For Stephen F. Austin, four Ladyjacks hit over .300, with Shana Neimann paving the way. Neimann hit .522, swatting 14 kills on 23 attempts. Marissa Dorcheus quarterbacked the attack, launching 53 assists, and Heather Stumbaugh added 14 digs and 13 kills for the Ladyjacks.
Stephen F. Austin improves to 23-9 on the season, and Rice drops to 12-17.
The Owls will be in action again Thursday at 7:40 pm at Autry Court.
