Football: Hebert, Hale Earn WAC Weekly Honors

Hebert, a sophomore from Spring (Klein HS), picked off two Tulsa passes in the fourth quarter to help Rice preserve a 20-10 victory at Tulsa. The second interception was returned 37 yards. He also had six tackles (four solo) in the contest. Hebert was also selected the WAC defensive player of the week Sept. 13 after recording 19 tackles at Michigan.
Hale, a freshman from Duncanville (Duncanville HS), punted five times for a 47.4-yard average in Rice's game at Tulsa. Hale nailed one punt 64 yards against the wind in the fourth quarter to help seal the win for the Owls.
San Jose State wide receiver Steven Pulley, a senior from Los Angeles, Calif. (St. Monica HS/Pasadena CC) was the WAC offensive player of the week. He tied a Spartan single-game record with 15 receptions for a school-record 255 yards in a 44-39 win at Stanford. Pulley scored two touchdowns, both in the second half. His second touchdown, a 54-yarder, came on a third and six play late in the fourth quarter. In his last two games, Pulley has caught 22 passes for 408 yards and four touchdowns.
