Swimming: Owls Swim Well at Indiana and Illinois

In Friday's meet, the Owls scored 82 points and got wins in five races. Rachel Doyle captured first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:21.49, followed by Kathryn Scholl who placed second (10:21.89). Mandy Mularz won the 50-yard freestyle in 24:70, and April Martinfinished the 200-yard backstroke in 2:05.51, for first. Scholl (5:07.59) and Doyle (5:08.23) recorded first and second, respectively in the 500-yard freestyle, and Eliabeth Williams got the win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.
At Illinois, Rice finished with 63 points. Martin posted first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59:09. Mularz won the 50-yard freestyle in 24:45, and Scholl captured the 500-yard freestyle title with a time of 5:08.69. The 400-yard relay team of Martin, Armstrong, Katherine Hermann and Liz Corneliuson finished on top with a collective time of 3:32.78
Rice next meet will be on Friday, November 12, in Berkely, Calif.
