Honors at Rice
2022-23 (Senior)
Spring: Matched his career-highs in wins with seven in singles (7-10) and 12 in doubles… Top singles win was a 6-4, 6-3 defeat of Texas A&M’s Pierce Rollins on 4/1 when Rollins was ranked 104th (6-4, 6-3)… Shook of a 6-1 loss in his first set to win in three sets vs. UTSA on 4/8 and post the first of three straight singles wins for Rice to come back from down 3-1 and defeat #34 UTSA… Opened the season at the second doubles line with Grear and were 3-2 before moving to the first line… Dropped their first two at the top spot, then closed the year winning nine of their last 12 decisions (and were leading 5-4 in a 13th match)… 2-1 vs. ranked doubles opponents, winning their last two… Defeated Texas A&M’s Trey Hilderbrand and Noah Schachter (#39) 6-3 on 4/1 and SMU’s #66 Adam Neff and Kyle Sillman, 7-5 on 4/15. Fall: Won his first two singles matches at the Texas ITA regional and then closed his fall season by winning two of three matches at the Rice Fall Challenge.
2021-22 (Junior)
Spring: Enjoyed his greatest success in doubles, posting a career-best 12-8 mark, including a 10-4 record at the second line… Combined with Trinity Grear for a 9-3, 9-2 at the second line. Fall: Won a career-best four singles matches in tournament play.
2020-21 (Sophomore)
Spring: Finished the campaign with a 7-8 mark in singles, including a 3-1 mark at the third line and an 8-8 mark in doubles, all at the third line. Fall: Combined with AJ Valenty to split a pair of doubles matches at the ITA Texas Regional before the team was called back to Houston due to contact tracing. Matches were the only action for the men's team in the fall.
2019-20 (Freshman)
Spring: Combined with Mohamed Abdel Aziz to win a doubles tiebreaker vs. Incarnate Word in his first collegiate dual appearance...
Fall: Finished his first fall of collegiate action with 3-3 mark in singles and 1-2 in doubles… Made his debut with a loss to Thomas Brown of South Carolina in the Pre-Qualifying round of the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships.. First collegiate win was a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Angel Diaz Jalil of UTA in the Singles A Draw at the Rice Invitational and advanced to the final before falling to Guido Marson of Texas A&M.
High School/Juniors
Came to Rice as the top-ranked player in the USTA Boys 18 and under division and as the 17th best high school senior in the country by tennisrecruiting.net… Won four USTA National Level 2 Tournaments in his career, including a win in both singles and a doubles title at an event in San Antonio in February of 2019… Reached the quarterfinals in doubles and the round of 16 in singles at the Easter Bowl ITF Championship in March, 2019… Won the Austin, Texas Grade 5 ITF singles and doubles title in October 2018. He also captured the singles title at the USTA Corpus Christi Level 2 Nationals. Competed in the USTA National Clay Courts, Hard Courts and Team Championships representing Team Southern Section in the summer of 2018... Received the Ozaki/Hastings Junior Sportsmanship Award from USTA Southern... The award is given to a junior player who best exemplifies the finest qualities of sportsmanship in tournament play and the finest traditions of the great sportsmen of tennis past and present.
