Honors at Rice
2022-23 (Graduate)
Spring: 7-10 in singles, primarily at the fifth line (6-5)… Set the stage for the Owls’ dramatic rally on the road at #68 New Mexico… With Rice down 3-2 and down a set, he rallied from deficits of 4-0 and 5-2 (twice fighting off match points to force a tiebreaker. Winning 7-1 and then rolling to a 6-3 win in the third set to tie the match 3-3… Won the Owls’ longest tiebreak of the season, 13-11 in his first set of an eventual win vs. Lamar… Won both singles matches at the Ralph O’Connor Rice Invitational, helping the Owls win the team title for the first time since 2017… Was 10-3 with Santiago Navarro in doubles (9-3 at the second line) and the duo closed by winning 10 of their last 11 decisions… Delivered the clinching doubles wins vs #25 Texas A&M, #34 UTSA, and #68 New Mexico and the first doubles win vs. #52 SMU. Fall: Did not see action in the fall.
2021-22 (Senior)
Spring: Reached double figures in singles wins for the first time, finishing the spring with a 10-9 mark… Tied for second on the team with a pair of clinch points… (Lamar & UTRGV)… Opened the season by winning his first five matches… Closed the season with a pair of wins, including a three set win over Charlotte’s Coy Simon, rallying from an 0-6 first set loss 0-6. 6-4, 6-2 to give Rice a 3-2 lead over the 49th ranked 49ers in the opening round of the Conference USA Championship…Fall: Won a career-best five singles matches in tournament play (5-5).
2020-21 (Junior)
Finished with a 3-9 mark in singles while playing at the second, third and fourth lines... Was 2-1 at the second line.
2019-20 (Sophomore)
Fall: Finished 4-2 in singles and 2-2 in doubles in his first fall action for the Owls … Advanced to the Round of 32 at the ITA Texas Regional in singles… Closed the season by winning two of three in singles and two of three in doubles (with Mohamed Abdel Aziz) at the SMU's Ralston/Neufeld Coaches Challenge.
2019 (Freshman)
Joined the Owls at the start of the spring semester and finished 8-8 in singles and 7-6 in dual matches… Won four of his last six singles decisions… Delivered his first career clinch point with a 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 win over Auburn’s Anders Fry to give Owls a 4-3 win at the Blue-Gray Classic… 2-1 in three-set matches… Clinched three doubles points with a different partner in each match (Mohamed Abdel-Aziz vs. SMU; Sumit Sarkar vs. Lamar; Eric Rutledge vs. Southern Miss).
High School/Juniors
Posted a career-best ITF Junior ranking of 104 and has a pair of Junior ITF doubles titles to his credit, including one in Chinese Taipei in April of 2017 with current Rice sophomore Sumit Sarkar... Ranked as high as third in Australia in his age group and has been a part of Tennis Australia's international touring team the last three years... Undefeated in APS tennis in singles in two consecutive seasons and one season in doubles, while leading Melbourne Grammar to an 11-1 record as a senior, matching the school's best record in 105 years of tennis... Also ran track (1,500 meters) and cross country... Participated in the Beyond The Gates Camp 2016 (21 days of hiking, rafting and mountain biking in the Australian outback and reached the summit of tallest mountain in Australia Mount Kosciusko).
