Brandon Schoeneck joined the Owls staff in June 2022, coming to Rice with over 10 years of strength and conditioning experience. Schoeneck spent the previous year as the Director of Basketball Sports Performance at Cleveland State. He helped the Vikings to a 20-11 record, the Horizon League regular season championship, and a berth in the National Invitational Tournament.
Prior to Cleveland State, he spent five years as the Director of Sports Performance at Jacksonville State, where he oversaw all aspects of strength and conditioning for the men's and
women's basketball teams. In his five years at Jacksonville State, the men’s basketball program had three 20-win seasons. In addition, he helped the Gamecocks to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2017 and Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship.
Schoeneck is no stranger to Conference USA, serving as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Louisiana Tech during the 2015-16 season. While with the Bulldogs, he
was responsible for the volleyball, tennis, and golf teams, helping the men's golf team to the Conference USA Championship.
Schoeneck also served as a strength and conditioning intern at Cal State Fullerton in 2014 and the University of Wisconsin in 2015. Prior to his internships he spent time in the private sector at Triple Threat Performance in Tempe, Arizona as well as the Scottsdale YMCA.
Schoeneck graduated from Arizona State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Wellness and earned his Masters of Human Movement from A.T. Still University.
