Greg Liberty is in his third year with the Owls as a recruiting coordinator and defensive assistant.
A former three-year letterman for Bruce Arians at Temple, Liberty served for 11 years in the US Army after his graduation in 1992 and began his coaching career at the high school level in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was a part of two state championship winners as well as two additional state finalists at Goodpasture School in Nashville under hall of fame coach David Martin from 2010-14 and also coached at Stratford High School in Nashville before setting his sights on the collegiate level.
In the spring of 2017, he rejoined Arians as an intern coach with the Arizona Cardinals in Arians last season as their head coach and used that experience to serve as a special teams analyst at Sam Houston State in the fall of 2017.
He coached the defensive line at Theil College in Greenville, Pennsylvania in 2018 and then joined the staff at East Texas Baptist College as linebacker coach in 2019. In his first season with the Tigers, Liberty mentored Anton Clark to first-team, AP All-American and All-American Southwest Conference honors after leading the team with 71 tackles.
Liberty received a kidney and double lung transplant in Houston in 2021 and joined the Owls in a volunteer role that year during his recovery. He was elevated to full-time status in 2022 and was able to participate in the first bowl game of his career when the Owls played in the Lending Tree Bowl.
He prepped at Forestville HS in suburban Washington DC for hall of fame coach Eric Knight and played collegiately at Temple University under Arians and was a three-time letterman. He was voted team Defensive Player of the Week, twice, and helped the 1990 team to a 7-4 record.
He is married to Rasheeda, and a father to both Nailah and Malik.
