Kale Pick joined the Owls staff in 2020 as an offensive quality control assistant with the Owls wide receiver corps after four seasons at Fort Scott (KS) Community College, the last three as head coach.
A former quarterback and wide receiver at Kansas from 2009-12, Pick joined the Fort Scott staff in 2016 as the offensive coordinator before becoming the youngest head coach in the country at 27 years old the following season. In his four seasons with Greyhounds, Pick produced a number of quarterbacks who moved on to the next level including Nathan Roarke (Ohio), Dalton Sneed (Montana) Justin Agner (FAU) Florida Atlantic and Gunner Sea (Indiana State). Over his three seasons as head coach, Pick recruited and developed 63 players who went on to earn Division 1 scholarships. His 2019 team was the first Greyhound team to crack the national top 25 in 10 seasons.
Pick was a scholarship recruit to Kansas as a quarterback in 2008 and saw action in seven games in 2009 after redshirting in his first season. He took over as the starting quarterback in 2010, but was injured in the opener and made the switch to wide receiver when he returned to action. He became a starter at receiver in his last two seasons, including a start against Rice in Lawrence in 2012. He led the team in receptions as a senior in 2012 and was second on the squad in 2011. Presented the Gale Sayers Award as senior as the most competitive, hardest working and most positive leader on the Jayhawks.
After receiving his degree in Psychology in 2012, Pick began his coaching career at KU as a graduate assistant in 2013. He moved on to Texas A&M as a GA for two years as an offensive assistant under OC Jake Spavital, David Beaty and Aaron Moorehead and was the Aggies interim wide receiver coach for the 2014 Liberty Bowl.
He was named the offensive coordinator at Fort Scott in 2016, helping the Greyhounds attack improve from last place to lead the conference before taking over as head coach the following season.
