Dover Named Senior Associate AD/CFO
Simon Dover joins the Rice staff from Oakland University
Dover said, "I would like to thank Joe for giving me the opportunity to join the Rice team. I am excited to be here and look forward to contributing to the Rice Athletic Vision."
Dover comes to South Main from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., where he served in a similar capacity since 2011. With the Golden Grizzlies, he oversaw day-to-day operations of the athletic department and had been on staff at his alma mater since 1998. He previously served at OU as business manager, Assistant Athletics Director for Finance and Business Administration, Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and Associate Athletic Director for External Operations.
During his time at OU, Dover served as a sport administrator for baseball, men's and women's cross country, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, and the men's and women's track and field teams. Prior to taking on the role of Senior Associate AD, he was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for External Operations where he oversaw athletic communications, marketing and promotions, sports medicine and business operations.
A native of Rochester, Mich., Dover came to OU in 1998 from the Palace Sports and Entertainment, Inc. where he worked from 1991-98. Prior to PS&E, Dover worked in public accounting from 1988-91.
A 1988 graduate of Oakland with a bachelor's degree in accounting, Dover received his master's degree in finance in 1998 from Walsh College. He is a member of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the College Athletic Business Managers Association. Dover and his wife, Janice, have two children, Harrison and Haley.
