2022: One of five players to start all 20 matches … fifth on the team with 1,548 minutes played, including playing all 90 minutes nine times … anchored an Owl defense that allowed just four goals in conference play … helped the Owl defense limit the opposition to 13.0 shots per game and 5.9 shots per game.
2021: Played in four matches, starting three before an injury ended her season … played in 233 minutes, including a season-high 72 against Northwestern State (8/29).
2020-2021: C-USA Academic Honor Roll; Recorded a solid season with the program, but it was her first time in two years to be back playing on the soccer field after missing all of 2019… Worked her way into starting spot on defense 13 times… Was on her way to playing in every match before being sidelined for two of the last four games of the season… Finished seventh on the team in total minutes (1,224)… Played 90 or more minutes six times, including the NCAA Tournament victory over Furman where the Owl defenders held the Southern Conference Champion Paladins to just six shots… Logged a career-long 100 minutes in the upset victory over No. 18 ranked Texas A&M… Played all 97 minutes in the C-USA shutout road win at UAB.
2019: Was sidelined in her first season with the program and did not see game action... Worked hard to rejoin her teammates on the field.
Club — Offensive catalyst for Rise Soccer Club of Houston and Concorde Fire in Atlanta, Ga.… Helped Concorde Fire finish third in the nation in the 2016 ECNL Championships.
High School — St. John's School in Houston… All Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) honoree as a junior in 2018… Helped lead the Mavericks to second place in the SPC state championship tournament, the program's best finish in school history… Coached by Susan Quill… Also competed in varsity track & field… Presidential Honors Award… Governor's Honors Program Nominee.
Personal — Full name: Shelby Theresa Desroches. Parents: Reggie and Paula Desroches (two brothers, Jacob and Andrew). Shelby and the Desroches family are originally from Atlanta, Ga. Her father is the President at Rice. She chose to attend Rice over Harvard and the United States Naval Academy.
