Women’s Track Hosts 43rd Victor Lopez Classic

HOUSTON – The Rice women's track and field team will host the 43rd Victor Lopez Classic this weekend at the Wendel D. Ley Track, with the college meet running Friday through Saturday.
Rice will see several top athletes make their season debuts this weekend against a strong field.
Three-time All-American Mckyla Van der Westhuizen will make her season debut in the javelin, coming off a seventh-place finish at last season's NCAA Championships.
Julia Johannesdottir will make her outdoor debut in several events, her first collegiate competition since breaking her own hurdles school record several times at the American Indoor Championships.
Following a phenomenal indoor season, Barbora Malíková is set for her first Rice outdoor meet this weekend.
Josie Taylor and Alice Taylor return to the track after a strong showing last weekend at the Kirk Baptiste Invite.
