Kuzmenok Named American Player of the Week

IRVING – Junior Petro Kuzmenok was named the American Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Kuzmenok earns his first weekly honor of the spring season after posting a 3-0 singles record during the past week. He previously earned American Player of the Month honors in the fall. His week was highlighted by a straight-set victory over No. 13 Devin Badenhorst of Baylor, 6-2, 6-4.
The Owls finished the week 2-1 as a team, picking up wins over DePaul and UAB, including a 4-0 sweep of the Blazers in the final day of the 67th Ralph O'Connor Rice Invitational.
In doubles action, Kuzmenok teamed up to record a 7-6 win against Conor Flynn and Axel Frechet of UAB and held a 4-3 lead against Baylor's Alexandru Chirita and Zsombor Velcz before the match went unfinished.
In singles play, Kuzmenok defeated Badenhorst 6-2, 6-4 and added a 7-5, 6-2 win over Ondrej Valek of UAB.
The Owls will compete at FAU on Friday, March 13, in Boca Raton, Florida.
