IRVING – Rice men's tennis senior Kabeer Kapasi was named the American Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Kapasi is the first Rice player to earn the honor during the 2026 dual season. He went 3-0 in singles play with wins over Oregon, Lamar and LSU. He was also tied with Stanford's player at 3-6, 6-4 before the match was clinched. In doubles, Kapasi and Yair Sarouk posted a 2-1 record, with their match against LSU going unfinished on Monday.
Kapasi provided the clinching point in Rice's win over Oregon to advance the Owls during ITA Kickoff Weekend in Stanford. His singles victory against LSU also put Rice on the board in the match.
Rice returns to action next week when it hosts the 25K PTT tournament before resuming team play Feb. 20-22 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, against Old Dominion, Utah and Middle Tennessee.
