Doubles Sweep Highlights Opening Day

4-0 in doubles
The Rice men's tennis team posted a perfect 4-0 mark in doubles and added three wins in singles in combined action at a pair of events to open their 2025 fall season.
The Owls defeated Boise State 2-1 in the Blue bracket and lost to Clemson 2-1 in the Gray on the first day of action at the Blue Gray National College Classic in Montgomery, Alabama. Rice combined a tiebreak win by Petro Kuzmenok and Joshua Mandelbaum in doubles and a win by Kuzmenok in singles to defeat the Broncos. Rafael Botran and Gabriel Porras won their opener match in doubles before Clemson took both singles matches.
Kuzmenok and Mandelbaum will face Clemson's Eduardo Cherie Ligniere and Yannic Nittmann, who swept Auburn 3-0, in the Blue semifinals on Saturday. Botran and Porras will take on Alabama's Brendan Loh and Jacob Olar in the Gray consolation round.
Kabeer Kapasi and Noey Do each picked up two wins to pace the Owls on the opening day of action at the Waco Fall Kickoff Classic.
Kapasi picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win in singles after teaming with Yari Sarouk for an 8-6 win in doubles while No won his collegiate single debut in straight sets after combining with Santiago Navarro for a tiebreak win in doubles.
