IRVING – The Rice soccer team had two earn the first conference recognitions of the season with Lilly Reuscher being named American Defensive Player of the Week and Laurel Kelley being named Honorable Mention, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Reuscher receives the first conference honor of the season after leading the defensive line to allowing just one goal this past week. The Owls earned their first shutout of the season in a 6-0 win at UTRGV while also winning the season opener 2-1 against HCU.

Reuscher was a 2024 American All-Freshman Team selection and was named to the 2025 American Preseason Watch List.

Kelley earns conference recognition after recording a point in both matches to open the season. Kelley netted her first career goal at UTRGV while also assisting on the game-winning goal against HCU.

Rice (2-0) returns home Thursday night to face Incarnate Word.
