HOUSTON — Rice Men's Golf Head Coach Justin Emil has hired former Owl Harrison Hineline as Assistant Coach, announced Tuesday afternoon.
"We're thrilled to welcome Harrison Hineline to the Rice Men's Golf program as our new Assistant Coach. Harrison is an alum of our program and he loves Rice. His passion for the game and deep knowledge of competitive golf will be a tremendous asset as we continue to build on our tradition of excellence."
Hineline played at Rice from 2018-22. A three-time Golf Coaches Association of America All-American Scholar, he finished his career 10th in career stroke average (74.88) and average vs. par (3.17), and 12th in rounds of par or better (20). He had two top five finishes, three top 10's and five top 20's. He had his best finish at the 2022 Sam Houston Dual Match, tying for third-place, while tying for fifth at the 2019 Bayou City Collegiate Classic. He twice fired a 66, tying the sixth-lowest round in school history.
"I could not be more excited to be returning to South Main as Assistant Coach," said Hineline. "It feels like coming home after a long vacation. This team that Justin has built has a chance to be one of the best in Rice history, and they have some big goals. I can't wait to get started and to help this program elevate to the place that it belongs."
Hineline served as Assistant PGA Professional at Cordillera Ranch Golf Club in Boerne, Texas. While there, he won the 2024 National Car Rental Southern Texas Assistant PGA Professional Championship.
He returns to South Main after spending last year as Assistant Coach at Texas State, where he helped the Bobcats to three top-five finishes. He also helped Sakke Siltala to All-Sun Belt Conference honors, a berth to NCAA Regionals, and the first Texas State men's golfer to qualify for a spot in the NCAA Championship.
Hineline graduated from Rice in 2022 and received his Master's from Texas State in 2023.
