
Moser Named Associate AD / Name, Image and Likeness & General Manager

Former Olympic and world champion gymnast, attorney, and athlete advocate
HOUSTON- Rice Vice President and Director of Athletics Tommy McClelland announced on Wednesday the hiring of former Olympian and world champion gymnast, attorney, and athlete advocate Tasha Moser (formerly Schwikert) as Rice's Associate AD / Name, Image and Likeness & General Manager.
Moser will lead the department's advancement of NIL and opportunities for Rice's student-athletes stemming from the approval of the House settlement. She will serve as the primary resource for all aspects of the NIL process for the Owls' student-athletes, as well as the liaison on NIL-related matters between third-party partners of Rice Athletics and the South Main Collective. She will work with head coaches and other select sport staff on roster management, initiate regular meetings with university and campus stakeholders on NIL matters, and work with the Rice Athletics leadership on strategies to keep Rice Athletics at the forefront of the latest industry trends and developments.
"It was essential that we find a leader with both experience and passion to guide our NIL efforts—someone who genuinely understands and champions the student-athlete experience," said McClelland. "Tasha's journey—from excelling as a world-class gymnast to becoming a highly successful attorney with deep experience in the NIL space—perfectly positions her for this moment. She will play a leading role in building a new and essential unit within our athletics department. Our student-athletes will benefit tremendously from both her personal background and professional expertise."

Moser comes to Rice after six years as a Principal Attorney at Munck,Wilson Mandala LLP in Houston. During her time at WMW, she became a leader in the new area of NIL opportunities for student-athletes as co-chair of the firm's "WeAreNIL" practice, offering consulting and education for collectives, brands, schools, agencies, and student-athletes as well as preparing NIL partnership agreements. She has spoken and various NIL conferences nationwide and prepared NIL legal presentations for collegiate student-athletes.
A member of the 2000 US Olympic Women's Gymnastics team that won a bronze medal, Moser was an alternate for the 2004 team, which won a silver medal. She was a two-time All-Around national champion (2001 & 2002) and was the captain of the 2003 US team that captured the country's first World Championship team title.
Moser enrolled at UCLA in 2004 and was a 12-time All-American for the Bruins, winning a pair of NCAA All-Around titles (2005 & 2008) and was named the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Century in 2016. She was inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame as a member of the 2000 Olympic team in 2008, as an individual in 2012, and into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2020.
She received her undergraduate degree from UCLA in 2009 while majoring in sociology. She became an advocate for institutional change within USA Gymnastics and the United States Olympic Committee, motivating her to attend law school and graduate from UNLV in 2015.
Moser is a member of the USA Gymnastics Board of Directors and serves as co-chair of the special committee for over 500 Larry Nassar survivors, and testified before Congress on behalf of the Nassar survivors and continues to advocate for institutional change within USA Gymnastics and the United States Olympic Committee.
