Houston-Rice Athletics will once again celebrate the start of a new year of competition by hosting its annual Fan Fest at Rice Stadium at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 22.
Admission to Owl Fest is free, and gates at Rice Stadium will open at 6 p.m., with complimentary parking available in Lots 3 & 4 on the east side of the stadium.
Members of the Owls' volleyball, soccer, women's basketball, and women's golf teams will be on hand at the West Concourse of Rice Stadium for a series of autograph sessions as well as question-and-answer segments with head coaches Lindsay Edmonds, Genny Volpe, and JoAnne Berglund.
Scott Abell's Rice Football team takes to the field at 7 p.m. for the 15th practice of their training camp in advance of the season-opener against HCU on September 5, followed by an autograph session on the field at the conclusion of practice.
The first 200 Rice Students at Fan Fest will receive free pizza from Zalats.
The Kids' Zone on the West Concourse will feature new inflatables, a balloon artist/face painter, spirit training with the Owls' cheer & dance teams, as well as photos with Sammy the Owl.
The west side concession stand will be open with its traditional game day offerings, while several of Rice's sponsors, including Los Tios, Marriott Med Center, Portillo's, Raising Canes, MidFirst Bank, and Hungry's, will have giveaways at their locations throughout the concourse.
The Owls' Marketing staff will be handing out "RepTheR" merchandise and punch cards that fans can use to qualify for exclusive prizes by having their cards punched at each sponsor location and turned once completed. A drawing for the winners will be held during football practice.
Fans can pick up the latest in new Rice Nike apparel at the team store on the south concourse as well as pick up some additional gear at the Surplus Sale on West Concourse.
Account executives from the Rice Ticket staff will be on hand to provide information on season and single-game tickets for all fall sports.
