Bremerton, Wash. — Junior Lukas Boandl fired a three-under par 69 to sit in a tie for ninth-place heading into the final round of the NCAA Bremerton Regional.
It was his 11th round in the 60's this year, tying Michael Whitehead in 2010-11 for the most in a season in school history, and the 14th of his career. It was also his 22nd round of par or better this year and the 38th of his career.
His 36-hole score of 141 is the second lowest by an Owl in NCAA Regional history.
Boandl opened the round with a birdie on the second hole. After three straight pars, he bogeyed the sixth. But got it back with a birdie on the ninth to make the turn at -1. He began the back nine with back-to-back birdies on 10 and 11. After three straight pars, he birdied the 15th. Boandl dropped a shot on the 16th before finishing with a pair of pars.
Zou carded a 76 to sit in a tie for 29th-place at +3.
Florida's Matthew Kress leads the individual tournament at -10, one stroke in front of teammate Luke Poulter.
JUSTIN EMIL QUOTABLE
"It was a different wind today, which made the course more gettable. Lukas made some great up-and-downs. He putted really well and put himself in position for a run tomorrow. Daniel just had a tough back nine, but is playing well and has a chance to go low tomorrow."
