Rice Concludes Day One of Texas A&M Last Chance Meet

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Members of the Rice swimming team finished their first day of competition at the Texas A&M Last Chance Meet on Friday night in College Station. The goal of the meet is to improve times to try and give competitions an edge when selections for the NCAA Championship comes.
Action began with preliminary events, where Arielle Hayon finished in second in the 100 Fly by a hundredth of a second at 51.99. Catherine Eland finished in seventh with a time of 54.72.
In the 400 IM, Amelia Kane earned a second place finish with a time of 4:17.52.
Those two events were the only ones that the Owls competed in. After the time trials, action resumed for Rice in the finals.
Hayon improved on her time by two-hundreths of a second, finishing in first in the 100 Fly final with a time of 51.97. Eland stayed in seventh with a time of 55.23.
Hayon concluded the day's action with a 100 Fly time trail where she posted a time of 52.21.
Rice will conclude its time in the TAMU Last Chance Meet on Saturday.
