Kuzmenok Named AAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Rice sophomore men's tennis player Petro Kuzmenok earned American Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Kuzmenok was instrumental in the Owls' victory over LSU on Friday night in Houston. In doubles action, Kuzmenok and partner Santiago Navarro at the second line were the last match to finish, needing a tiebreaker at 6-6 to determine who takes the doubles point. The two won 7-5 to put Rice up 1-0 in the match. In singles action, Kuzmenok played at the first line for the first time this season, where he was the clinching point over the Tigers with a 6-1, 7-5 win, including battling back from deficits of 1-4 and 2-5 in his second set to take the match and the victory for Rice.

The Owls return to action on Friday, February 14, taking on Lamar at 4 p.m. from the Goerge R. Brown Tennis Center.
