Owls open ITA Texas Regional

COLLEGE STATION – The Rice men's tennis team opened up the ITA Texas Regional in College Station on Friday.
Noey Do opened Friday's play with a strong performance, defeating UTSA's Timeo Bretin 6-1, 6-3. He followed that with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Lamar's Stefano Chappuis to secure his spot in Saturday's main draw.
Joshua Mandelbaum battled but fell to UIW's Alexandre Gobin 3-6, 6-0, 4-6, while Yair Sarouk dropped a close match to UTSA's Maximilian Ontiveros 4-6, 6-2, 4-6.
Do will face Baylor's Blake Anderson on Saturday at noon.
