
Taylor Named AAC Field Athlete of the Week

IRVING – After a tremendous showing in her season debut, Josie Taylor claimed the first conference honor of the season after being named the American Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
"Josie is an outstanding student-athlete and is already off to a great start here this season," said women's track and field head coach Jim Bevan. "I am so excited to see what she can accomplish this season."
Taylor opened the 2025 track and field season tying for second-place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.75m (5-08.75) at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invite. She finished tied with her sister, Alice.
Her clearance is currently tied for 21st in the NCAA.
Rice will have its first team-showing of the season on Jan. 25 at the FasTrak Invite.
