
Men's Tennis Hosts UTR College Circuit

HOUSTON - Over 75 Houston-based tennis players will descend onto Rice University's George R. Brown Tennis Center to take part in the two-day UTR College Circuit hosted by Rice from Saturday, January 11 to Sunday, January 12.
Eight Owls will be partaking in the tournament to unofficially open the 2025 spring season, with all Owls earning spots in the A Flight of the tournament.
Saturday's first match will see two Owls go head-to-head as Eduardo Morais and Tommy Czaplinski will open their runs in the tournament at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Kabeer Kapasi, fresh off of his NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship appearance with partner Arthus de la Bassetiere, will also begin at 11 a.m. with a match up against Noey Do.
De la Bassetiere, who is the four seed in the A Flight, will take on Theo Coats to begin his time in the tournament. Should Kapasi and de la Bassetiere both win their first round match, they will face each other in the quarterfinals.
Emir Sendogan, who is the three seed in the A Flight, will take on Javier Gonzalez to continue the action in the tournament, with Santiago Navarro taking on Dylan Varughese on the other side of the bracket. If Sendogan and Navarro both win, they will face each other in the quarterfinals.
Yair Sarouk will tak on Connor Robb-Wilcox to begin his run in the UTR College Circuit, with second-seeded Petro Kuzmenok taking on Bode Campbell in the final match of the round of 16. Sarouk and Kuzmenok have an opportunity to face each other in the quarterfinals should they both earn wins in their first matches.
The season will officially open next Saturday, January 18, as Rice hosts UTRGV at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
