Rice concludes time in the Bluegrass State on Sunday against UNI
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Rice volleyball team (4-2) dropped a neutral-site match to the ninth-ranked Creighton Bluejays (7-1), 3-0, on Saturday morning at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
"Creighton is a great team and they straight-up beat us today," head coach Genny Volpe said. "We need to wipe this one clean and focus on UNI. We know why we are capable of doing and just didn't show it today unfortunately."

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET ONE (CREIGHTON 25-16)
Rice built up an early 5-2 lead, taking advantage of early errors by the Bluejays, but the Bluejays would then go on a 6-0 run to force the Owls to take a time out. After that timeout, Creighton would build up a 16-10 lead before Rice would be forced to use its final timeout of the first set. The two sides traded blows before the Bluejays went on a 4-0 run to take a 23-14 lead. While Rice would score two to cut the lead to 23-16, Creighton was able to put the first set away with two final points.
SET TWO (CREIGHTON 25-21)
The Owls came out more aggressive in the second set, putting up a 7-0 run and taking a 10-7 lead to start the set. The set was tightly contested the rest of the way, but Creighton was able to pull away with a handful of attack errors by the Owls, taking the 25-21 decision and a 2-0 advantage into the third set.
SET THREE (CREIGHTON 25-12)
The early of the set was a back-and-forth affair, with the Owls and Bluejays both swapping leads until the Bluejays went ahead 6-5, where they would hold the lead for the rest of the match. After a kill by Tchouangwa to make the score 13-8, Creighton would go on a 8-0 run to take a 21-8 lead. After another small run, a kill by Hill and an ace by Carter would serve as the Owls' cut the deficit in half as 24-12, but a service error would set Creighton up with the match point.
