Hutchins Named AAC Goalkeeper of the Week

IRVING – After leading the Owls in goal to back-to-back wins to open the 2024 season, Faith Hutchins earned one of the first conference honors of the season, being named the AAC Goalkeeper of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
"Faith has made an impact on and off the field from day one with us," said Rice soccer head coach Brian Lee. "Her work ethic is top notch and she is a fantastic teammate."
Hutchins played all 180 minutes in goal during the week, earning wins against Texas State (2-1) and Navy (2-1). She had a 1.0 goals against average on the week, making seven saves on 23 shots faces. Hutchins posted a .778 save percentage on the week.
Her efforts in goal gave Rice its first 2-0 start to the season since the 2021 season. Hutchins also becomes the first conference player of the week since Bella Killgore was named CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week on Oct. 31, 2022.
The Owls will be back in action Thursday night on the road against No. 1 Florida State.
