
Men's Tennis Sweeps Presbyterian, 4-0

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Rice men's tennis defeated Presbyterian, 4-0, on Saturday in a neutral match at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. The Owls extended their winning streak to seven matches.
Doubles: The Owls controlled doubles play on all three courts en route to the opening point. At the third spot, juniors Arthus de la Bassetiere and Eduardo Morais opened the day with a 6-2 victory. Senior Trinity Grear and freshman Petro Kuzmenok followed close behind with a 6-3 win at the second position to clinch the doubles point. At the top spot, senior Yasha Zemel and sophomore Kabeer Kapasi also led, 5-2, at the time the point was clinched.
Singles: Rice's control of the match continued into singles play as a trio of straight-set victories swiftly clinched the match for the Owls. At the sixth spot, Morais claimed his second singles victory of the dual match season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Junior Emir Sendogan reached the 10-win plateau on the season, winning at the third position, 6-0, 6-2. Kuzmenok then delivered another clinching point for the Owls, winning at the No. 4s, 6-4, 6-2. At the time the winning point was clinched, both de la Bassetiere and Kapasi led in the second set at the second and fifth positions, respectively, in their attempts to force a third set. Meanwhile, Grear led at the top spot in the lineup, 6-3, 4-3, at the time the winning point was clinched.
