
Golf Closes Play at Bentwater Intercollegiate

Montgomery, Texas — The Rice Gold team closed play at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, finishing in 10th-place.
The Owls carded a +14 298 to finish +41 for the tournament.
Junior Raghav Chugh led the team in a tie for 26th-place after posting a 76 to finish +8. Sophomore Lukas Boandl shot 74 to finish +9 in a 30th-place tie.
Freshman Reggie Zhu and senior Blake Benson both tied for 33rd-place at +10. The duo both carded a 72, the best rounds of the day for the Owls. Freshman Braeden Hoyt tied for 36th-place at +11 after posting a 78.
Graduate student Jay Kirchdorfer posted a 76 to finish +16 in a tie for 54th-place. Freshman Jaivir Pande closed with a 78 to finish +21 in 67th-place. Senior Rodrigo Martin and graduate student Nicholas Li finished in 71st and 73rd-place, respectively. Martin was +24 after a 78 while Li posted a 74 to finish +26.
Sam Houston won the team tournament at +3, 17 strokes in front of WKU. Sam Houston's Josh German earned medalist honors at -7, two strokes in front of Tarleton State's Max Bengtsson.

"It was a tough day for us. We didn't handle the difficult parts of the golf course very well and some poor execution on a few shots showed up again today. Overall, this was not the way we wanted to start the spring season. But it's early and I believe our guys will bounce back quickly in Laredo."
