
Rice Men's Tennis Announces Spring Schedule

HOUSTON - Rice men's tennis head coach Efe Ustundag announced the 2024-25 spring schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
Rice will take on nine teams who were in the NCAA Tournament last spring, including the national runner-up and a team who finished in the third round.
The spring portion of Rice's schedule will begin with the UTR College Series, with the first official team competition taking place on January 18 against UTRGV. On January 20, Rice will host a doubleheader featuring Incarnate Word at 10 a.m., followed by Prairie View A&M at 3 p.m. To conclude the month on January, the Owls will head to Austin, Texas, to take part in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, facing Texas and either Arkansas or Georgia Tech.
February opens with a road match against Baylor on the Feb. 2 before returning home on Feb. 7 to take on LSU. The Owls will then split up, with some members taking art in the ITA National Indoors from Feb. 14-17, while the remaining members of the squad will remain on South Main to host Lamar (Feb. 14), Texas Tech (Feb. 16), and Texas A&M - Corpus Christi (Feb. 18). Conference play begins in the final home match of the month as Rice will host FAU, before heading west to La Jolla, California, to take part in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championships hosted by Pepperdine.
March opens with another local doubleheader as Rice will host UT Arlington and Abilene Christian on March 8 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. Following that, the Owls will travel to College Station for the first of four-straight road matches to take on Texas A&M, who the Owls met in the NCAA Tournament last season. Rice will then head north to Oklahoma for two matches in the Sooner State, matching up with Tulsa on March 16 before taking on Oklahoma State on March 18. The road swing concludes with a conference match at Memphis on March 21, then the Owls return home to close out March with a match against Tulane on March 28.
April opens with the Ralph O'Connor Invitational, where Rice will host conference opponents Charlotte and UTSA for the annual tournament. The Owls and 49ers will match up on April 4, while the 49ers and Roadrunners will take on each other on April 5. April 6 will see the Owls and Roadrunners meet for Rice's Senior Day. The regular season concludes on April 13 in Birmingham, Alabama, where Rice will take on UAB.
The AAC Championships will take place from April 17 - 20, and will be hosted by Memphis.
