
NCAA Berth Clinched in ITA Sectionals by de la Bassetiere and Kapasi

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Rice tandem of Arthus de la Bassetiere and Kabeer Kapasi have clinched a berth to the NCAA Individual Championships later this month and clinched a spot in the ITA Sectionals Doubles Championship after a victory on Saturday afternoon in Forth Worth.
The tandem of de la Bassetiere and Kapasi took down Bryce Nakashima and William Jansen of Ohio State to earn their spot in the final. While only needing two sets, the first set was a battle that came down to a tiebreaker, but the Rice duo easily took the second set, earning victory with a 7-6 (4), 6-2 final.
By virtue of being a finalist of the ITA Sectionals, the duo will represent Rice in the NCAA Individual Championships later this month regardless of the result of tomorrow's championship match.
The two will take part in the championship tomorrow, with the time to be announced.
