Five Owls Named CSC All-District

HOUSTON – The Rice soccer team had five earn Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators, with Catarina Albuquerque, Naija Bruckner, Faith Hutchins, Kallie McKinney and Taylor Rish all earning recognition, the organization announced Tuesday.
Albuquerque netted two goals this season, with back-to-back game-winners against Temple and North Texas, while also adding four assists. In her career, she has amassed seven goals and 10 assists for 24 points. Her 94 games played in her career is a Rice program record. Albuquerque is a three-time CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and also was an AAC All-Academic last season. She was also a 2023 Rice Honor Athlete.
Bruckner recorded one assist this season during Rice's 2-1 win over Navy. She played a full 90 minutes eight times throughout the season. Bruckner earned CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Medal honors her freshman year, while being named an AAC All-Academic last season.
Hutchins was named All-Conference Second Team after pitching eight shutouts this season. Her .820 save percentage ranked second best in the conference. Her 100 saves this season ranks as the third most in a single season for a Rice goalie.
McKinney tallied three goals and two assists this season to add to her career totals of six goals and seven assists. She scored the game-tying goal against Navy, while also scoring against Lamar and Temple. McKinney earned both the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Medal in 2023, while also being named an AAC All-Academic last season.
Rish scored two goals and five assists for nine points in her first season with the Owls. She has now scored six goals and five assists in her career, totaling 17 points. Rish scored the match-tying goal in Rice's win over North Texas, while also scoring the game-winning goal against UAB. This is Rish's second Academic All-District honor, while also earning three SEC Honor Roll and three Georgia Academic Honor Roll honors.
