Knobbe, Kostelecky Named to AAC Honor Roll

HOUSTON — After helping the Rice Volleyball team to a pair of wins in the Rice Invitational, junior middle blocker Kaitlyn Knobbe and graduate middle blocker Satasha Kostelecky were named the to the American Athletic Conference's Honor Roll.
Knobbe averaged 2.85 kills per set, 3.31 points and led the Owls with a .485 hitting percentage while also adding 1.50 blocks per set. Knobbe began the week hitting .455 against No. 5 Stanford. She had six kills and a team-high 8.5 points. She also added a match-best four blocks. Against Houston Christian, she hit .286 and recorded 6.0 points to go along with five blocks. One day later against Atlantic Sun preseason favorite Florida Gulf Coast, Knobbe set or matched career-highs with 10 kills, 12.0 points and a .600 hitting percentage while adding three blocks. For the week, she notched 19 kills, 26.5 points and 12.0 blocks.
Kostelecky averaged 1.78 blocks per set and 1.10 digs per set while also hitting .441 behind 1.89 kills per set and adding 3.11 points per set. She began the week against No. 7 Stanford, recording a season-high six digs and adding two blocks while hitting .571. Against Houston Christian, the Decatur, Texas native notched a season-high seven blocks while helping hold the Huskies to a -.075 hitting percentage. She also had a .294 (6 kills/17 attempts) hitting percentage. One day later against FGCU, she again posted seven blocks, including three solos. She also hit .600 behind a season-high seven kills and led the team with 12.0 points. On the week, she posted 16 blocks, including six solo, and 10 digs, while adding 17 kills and 28 points.
Rice (4-3) returns to action tonight when it begins a three-match road trip at No. 6 Texas (3-2). First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be televised by the Longhorn Network.
