Rice Golf Places Two in Top 20 at Conference USA Championship

Texarkana, Ark. — Graduate student Jay Kirchdorfer and senior Forrest Park earned top-20 finishes to close the Conference USA Championship.
The Rice Golf team carded a 12-over par 300 to tie for sixth-place at 30-over par.
Kirchdorfer carded a 75 to finish five-over par in a tie for 16th-place. It is his team-leading sixth top 20 finish of the year and the seventh of his career. Park posted the Owls' best round of the day, shooting a 74 to earn his first career top 20 finish, tying for 18th-place at six-over par.
Freshman Lukas Boandl tied for 24th-place at eight-over par after carding a 76. Juniors Rodrigo Martin and Blake Benson carded rounds of 77 and 75, respectively. Martin tied for 35th-place at 13-over par and Benson finished one stroke back in a 39th-place tie.
Charlotte, Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech and North Texas advanced to match play. Louisiana Tech's James Swash earned medalist honors at two-under par, two strokes in front of Middle Tennessee's Owen Stamper.
