Simpson-Sullivan Named C-USA Field Athlete of the Week

DALLAS – After an incredible showing last weekend at the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego, Tara Simpson-Sullivan has been named the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon (4/11).
"Tara is an awesome competitor, an awesome leader, an awesome student and an awesome teammate," said women's track and field head coach Jim Bevan. "Tara is one of the best we've ever had at Rice."
Simpson-Sullivan claimed her second weight throw title of the outdoor season with a season-best throw of 64.52m (211-08). The mark currently ranks her first in C-USA, first in the NCAA South-Central region and 11th in the NCAA.
The Owls will be back in action this week at the Mt SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invite in California.
