
Owls Send Four to Finals on Day One of National Invitational

Lauren McDougall led a contingent of four Rice swimmers to score points in the 500 freestyle and Imogen Meers finished fourth in the 50 freestyle to highlight action for Rice on the first day of competition at the 2028 CSCAA National Invitational Championships in Elkhart, Indiana on Thursday.
Rice stands in 12th after the first day of competition with 87 points.
McDougall finished sixth in the 500 free, followed by Amelia Kane (8th) and Shannon Campbell (9th) in the finals while freshman Ella Dyson finished second in the consolation final and 12th in the competition.
Meers could not better her fourth-place qualification from the morning preliminaries.
Abigail King finished 25th in the 50 butterfly, Megan Schultze finished 29th in the 50 breast and Lily Cramer finished 32nd in the 200 IM to round out results for the Owls on Thursday.
The competition resumes on Friday at 8:30 am (central) with qualifications in the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and 800 free relay. Finals begin at 5 p.m. (central).
