Homestand continues next weekend
Houston: Rice improved to 4-4 on the season by blanking Sam Houston 7-0 at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Saturday.
Doubles: Rice raced to the opening point of the day by dropping a combined five games over the three doubles courts.
Singles: The Owls grabbed all six first sets of singles and the trio of Darya Schwartzman, Sydney Berlin and Saara Orav moved swiftly to provide the clinching points. Schwatzman finished first, followed by Berlin, and then Orav delivered the clinching point. Maria Budin added the fifth point and Marte Lambrecht tallied the sixth by closing out a straight-set win with a 7-2 win in a tiebreaker. Federica Trevisan, who had took her opening set in a tiebreak and then dropped the second, closed the match out with a 10-3 superset win.
Up Next: Rice will close out their current homestand next weekend, hosting UTSA on Friday and two-time defending NCAA champ Texas on Saturday. First serves both days are scheduled for 11 a.m.
