Three Golfers in Top 20 at Bayou City Collegiate Classic

Houston, Texas — Three golfers rank among the top 20 individuals to lead Rice after two rounds of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic.
Graduate student Jay Kirchdorfer is tied for eighth-place at four-under par after firing consecutive 70's. He's now second on the team with seven rounds of par or better and his 36-hole score of 140 tied a career-low.
Freshman Lukas Boandl carded consecutive 71's to sit in a tie for 16th-place at two-under par. He now has five rounds of par or better. Sophomore Raghav Chugh is one-under par, tied for 20th-place after posting 71-73. The 71 was his team-leading ninth round of par or better this year and the 24th of his career.
Junior Blake Benson carded rounds of 76-74, tying for 58th-place at six-over par and junior Rodrigo Martin is tied for 84th-place at 11-over par after rounds of 75-80.
Senior Forrest Park leads a group of three golfers playing as individuals in a tie for 30th-place at one-over par. He opened with a 74 before firing a 71, his first round of par or better this year and the third of his career. He also tied a career-low with a 36-hole score of 145. Senior Thomas Bockholt III is tied for 58th-place at six-over par after rounds of 77-73 and freshman Davis Byrd posted rounds of 73-82 to sit in a tie for 84th-place.
The Owls are tied for sixth-place with Louisiana-Monroe at two-under par after carding rounds of 286-288, their sixth and seventh rounds of par or better this year.
Sam Houston leads the team tournament at 18-under par, six strokes in front of Oral Roberts. Sam Houston's Bret Gray is nine-under par to lead the individual tournament, one stroke ahead of Lamar's Hugo Hellman.

The final round begins tomorrow at 7:39 a.m. Rice will tee off with student-athletes from Stephen F. Austin and UTSA.
