
Rice Swimming Stays Strong on Day Two at SMU Invite

In Brief: Rice swimming remained in fifth place with a total of 344 points after day two of the SMU Invite at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center in Dallas, Texas. The Owls recorded a further four top-five finishes on Friday.
The Details: The Owls posted a pair of top-five finishes in relay events on Friday. In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the Rice quartet of graduate senior Shannon Campbell, seniors Imogen Meers and Elizabeth Myers, plus sophomore Lily Cramer placed third with a time of 7:25.09. The time is the best recorded in the AAC so far this season. In the 200-yard medley relay, Meers, senior Mimi Filkin, junior Arielle Hayon and sophomore Mia Nagle placed fifth with a time of 1:41.26, ranking second in the AAC this season. In individual events, junior Amelia Kane posted the best finish by an Owl on the day, finishing third in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:19.36, ranking second in the league this season. Meers posted Rice's final top-five finish of the day, placing fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.12, also ranking as the best time in the AAC so far this season.
