Pande Leads Owls at Steelwood Collegiate Invitational

Loxley, Ala. — Freshman Jaivir Pande carded a pair of even par 72's to lead the Rice Golf team on the first day of the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational.
Pande is tied for 16th-place. The 72's give him four rounds of par or better this year and his 36-hole score of 144 was a season-best.
Freshman Braeden Hoyt is tied for 38th-place at five-over par after posting rounds of 75-74. Senior Blake Benson and sophomore Lukas Boandl are tied for 57th-place at 10-over par. Benson shot rounds of 79-75 while Boandl carded a pair of 77's.
Graduate student Jay Kirchdorfer is tied for 71st-place at 14-over par after shooting rounds of 77-81.
Rice is 23-over par in 14th-place. Alabama leads the team tournament at eight-under par, three strokes in front of Kentucky. Chattanooga's John Houk leads the individual tournament at 10-under par, one stroke in front of UK's Alex Goff.

The final round begins tomorrow at 7:45 a.m. Rice will tee off at from hole 10 beginning at 8:09 a.m. with student-athletes from Louisiana Tech and a group of individual players.
