2022-23 recruits
Rice head swim coach Seth Huston has signed seven incoming freshmen who will join the Owls for the historic 2022-23 campaign as they become the first Rice program to compete in The American Athletic Conference. The Owls will join with Charlotte, FAU, FIU and North Texas as affiliate members of the conference this upcoming season.
"This class looks really good on paper and our feeling is that in person, they will fit great into the culture of our team," Huston stated. "Our team's duty will be to welcome these young women with open arms and support and encourage them to find their place and to help them to be their best selves moving forward."
Huston's incoming class consists of Lily Cramer (Ann Arbor, Michigan), Ela Dyson (Marlow, England), Lili Elayi (Lexington, Kentucky), Ava Hamblett (Orange, Connecticut), Abigail King (Knoxville, Tennessee), Mia Nagle (Copley, Ohio) and Katherine Sammy (Gainesville, Florida).
The newest Owls will join a returning lineup that includes five Conference USA champions (Shannon Campbell, Arielle Hayon, Madison Howe, Amelia Kane and Zoe Spitz) and a pair of past C-USA Freshmen of the Year (Imogen Meers and Hayon) and wrapped up the season by finishing second at the C-USA Championship and fifth at the CSCAA National Invitational.
